"CUSTOM BOATING LINES"

You've been boating all summer and you know best which lines work well for you and which lines you wish you hadn't bought.  About 50 % of our orders are custom lines.  You may wish that extra dock line wasn't in the way or you may wish you didn't have to reach so far to grab a dock line.  Whatever your problem may be, whether it's color, type of line, length of a line or any other issue, please let us know and we can help YOU.

You might be thinking this guy is going to charge me a fortune to do what I need.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  We will charge you our normal pricing per foot for the line and normal pricing for your extra labor.  By the way, you always have a complete quote before you order and we never charge you shipping or handling in the lower 48 States.

Your needs might include "dock lines", "mooring pendants", "anchor lines", "towing lines", "rescue lines", "halyards", "sheets" or any other boating lines you can think of, so ask and we promise you an answer.

DID I MENTION ALL OUR ROPE AND LABOR IS AMERICAN

MOORING YOU

Mooring your boat safely and securely is important for real obvious reasons. First of all, you want an undamaged boat to come back to.  Secondly, you don't want to damage someone else's boat.  For details on a mooring set up, check out our mooring guide at www.mastermarinelines.net

When it comes to mooring pendants, buy the best one you can afford.  It is a prudent investment.  You can argue all day about whether 3 strand nylon, poly/nylon double braid or one of the new hi-tech lines make up the best pendants.  In the end, if you follow the manufacturers' guidelines and the manufacturer is good, you'll be OK.  Nothing is fool proof and bad things happen, but not very often if you follow the above rules.

At Master Marine Lines, we stick with American rope - It works and it meets certain quality standards or we don't use it.  Yes, there are substandard American ropes too.  We don't use them.  We are not afraid to answer your questions about products we sell.  They work.  Give us a try.

TOWING

Wouldn't you like to have a towing line on board to help a poor soul in need - especially since that poor soul might be you - We can make up an appropriate line for you, even a bridle if you like to keep the bow of your towed boat from damaging your boat - Your line would be made of multifilament polypropylene which floats so it doesn't foul on anything underwater - It's double braid so it's easy to handle and doesn't tangle. It's strong.  It's American

MFP

Multifilament Polypropylene makes excellent towing rope - If you tow boats for a living, this high strength to weight ratio rope in its' double braid version has a soft feel, holds knots, has high UV resistance as well as high chemical resistance - all this at a modest cost makes it an ideal rope for professionals and recreational boaters who would like the extra safety of a tow rope should an engine fail or the wind should die.   Did I mention this rope floats so it's less likely to foul on anything below the surface of the water.

MFP is available in a variety of colors and you won't find it listed in any of the stock items on our website.  Simply send any inquiry with the subject line  MFP  if you would like more information for a tow line or a rescue line - remember, it floats - This might sound corny, but we are concerned about your safety - dropping us a line with a question or two costs you nothing and may land up helping you out of a bad situation

3 STRAND (VS) DOUBLE BRAID

This is something that I feel obligated to go over every once in a while.  Nylon is used on a majority of dock lines, mooring pendants and anchor lines.  For the majority of recreational boaters, this nylon will be 3 strand or double braid construction. Which is better?

3 strand is strong, doesn't suffer much from small abrasions and has the ability to stretch a lot before it breaks. It is also easy to splice. It is the industry standard and it's cheaper than double braid line.  It makes a great anchor line in a storm because it has so much give.

Double braid construction is just what it sounds like. A loosely woven core inside a tightly braided cover, a rope in a rope.  It is the stronger of the two types, it has a soft feel and does not tangle.  It does not stretch as much as 3 strand, so it is a bit more rigid and likely to break under severe conditions.  If you compromise the cover braid, you lose considerable strength.  Most people find splicing more of a challenge.

Those are the pro's and the con's  -  They are both great rope - Your needs and desires should dictate your choice.   We sell both - Visit us and buy top quality od either

                                                                                                   Thanks, John
